Welcome to Thursday Talks, where Kay will bring you short interviews with Authors, Reviewers/blogs, and Beta Readers.
This week’s interview is with, Author Emerald Lavere.
1. Have you ever written something that made you upset?
Currently, I'm polishing up my third novel. So far I've not taken the plunge and created anything that really hurt me to write. I have written some unpleasant scenes. I've also had a "Joan Wilder" moment (Romancing the Stone, anyone?) where I smile-cried writing a pivotal and emotional scene. I was so proud of myself, and also felt like a complete dork at the same time. On the other hand, I'm also working on a memoir. So even though I didn't make up those stories, there are certainly some events that are upsetting to write about.
2. Who is your favorite character that you have written?
My favorite character that I've written is Ax from The Wikomsette. Ax is an ass. I'm hard pressed to even say why he's my favorite, but while I stared at my computer, he's the one that sat on my bed, harassing me to finish my first novel (featuring him, of course). He does have some good traits. He's super smart, and takes crap from no one. Plus, you won't hear his Wikomsette complain about
3. If you could write a book based on one character from television, books, or someone you meet while developing your author career who would it be and what type of story would you write?
I'm sure it's gone out of fashion, but I am still madly in love with Tom Welling's version of Clark Kent (Smallville). My character Niku from The Wikomsette was inspired by the handsome, duty-driven, stoic, Clark. I've toyed with the idea of writing another story that would feature a Clark-like character. Something part romance, part Twilight Zone.
4. What is the worst/hardest question that you as an author have been asked during an interview?
The hardest question I've been asked...this one? I don't think I have a hard time answering any questions. My challenge is probably more not to ramble on and on. I've been told I'm a "talker." ha ha.
